WellSpring Weekly
March 06, 2025
Dear Parents,
Ramadan Kareem! The first week of Ramadan with adjusted school hours has gone well, and a reminder that school will go online on Fridays.
Welcome also to Reading Month! We already have some fun activities underway. See some updates and reminders below, and note specifically that Book Character Dress Up day has been moved.
Take note of the important information, dates and events, and check out the week’s highlights in the link at the end of the newsletter.
Friday online lessons
Information has gone out today about the shift to online classes on Fridays during Ramadan. Here are some of the highlighted points:
- Friday’s online lessons (March 7, 14, 21, 28) are mandatory for all students as they are considered a ‘normal’ school day. Attendance will be taken, and tardiness recorded as per a ‘normal’ school day.
- Lessons will start promptly at 9:00am and end by 12:00pm each week.
- Students do not need to wear uniform on calls.
More detailed information can be found on Canvas.
Ramadan hours
A reminder for school hours during Ramadan.
Monday – Thursday: the school day starts at 8:50am with assembly and ends at 1:30pm.
Drop off is from 8:30am.
Fridays: are online, classes are from 9am - 12pm.
Reading month
Reading month is off to a great start! A few reminders and updates for Reading Month:
We have reading competitions where students will use their creativity to create bookmarks, book adverts or movie posters according to their grades. The competitions have started and the due date for submissions is March 21.
We had our first D.E.A.R. Time (Drop Everything And Read) yesterday! Look for some pictures of this great activity in this week’s highlights.
*Book Character Day date change! We will move Book Character Day to Thursday, March 13th. This gives everyone more time to prepare their costumes!
Book Exchange: If students have gently used books they are no longer reading, they can bring them to school to donate to our book exchange. There will be a table set up in the library with the donated books. They can view the other donated books, and take a few home to add to their home library.
Re-enrollment intention for 2025-26
We're looking forward to another fantastic year at WellSpring! Please take a moment to fill out the form below to help us plan effectively for the next year and ensure we can continue to provide a nurturing and enriching learning community for all our students.
Important: This does not complete your re-enrollment, this is merely your intent. More information will be communicated in the coming weeks on how to re-enroll for next year.
WellSpring’s WhatsApp Broadcast class list
All parents should be on the WellSpring WhatsApp group, which is an effective way for the school to share urgent and important information directly with our parents.
Please make sure you have saved our WhatsApp number as a contact on your phone: +971 50 639 3914. You will then be added automatically to the broadcast group.
Please contact Ms. Bassma if you encounter any problems with the above.
Message from counsellors
Does your child play Roblox? In a recent Screen-Time Survey, we (The WellSpring Private School) conducted, more than 50% of elementary parents responded that their children play Roblox. Several parents expressed a concern for extended screen time and were worried about what content their child might "accidentally" be exposed to online.
Our counselors have written a blog on what you need to know about Roblox as a parent, how to keep them safe while playing, and tips on limiting screen time. Please follow these links to see the article:

Holy Ramadan Cycle Challenge
One of our parents, Imke Clark (mother to Mary grade 5), will be cycling the Tour de France Femmes a day ahead of the pros this summer to raise awareness for the charity Cure Leukaemia.
But first she is starting here with a 150km challenge. Ride alone or as a family, collecting 150kms together during the month of Ramadan, and become part of the effort to raise awareness for both children and adults battling blood cancer.

Students’ Voices
Failure! Everyone’s afraid of it, right? But what if I told you that failure is actually the secret to success? Okay think about it. Thomas Edison failed 2774 times before inventing the lightbulb. Even Michael Jordan was cut from his high school basketball team. What they didn’t do was quit. Instead, they learned from their mistakes and came back stronger. So, next time you fail at something, don’t see it as the end. See it as a lesson, a chance to grow. Failure isn’t something to fear. It’s something to embrace and learn from. Because every time you fail, you’re one step closer to success.
