WellSpring Weekly

October 31, 2024

Dear Parents,

Besides the consistent learning going on in our classrooms this week, many of our students have gone on field trips, we had performances from a visiting Korean dance company, some of our girls were introduced to self-defence strategies - we love these opportunities for extended learning outside of the classroom.

As we get ready to celebrate Flag Day tomorrow, we are proud to commemorate the origins of the United Arab Emirates and everything the flag represents: courage, hope, honesty and strength of mind.

Please note the important details below for upcoming PTCs and other events. Check out the week’s highlights in the link at the end of the newsletter.

Flag Day

Tomorrow we will celebrate UAE Flag Day! Students are encouraged to wear the colors of the UAE flag and to bring a small flag with them to school. Students and staff will gather as a school to raise the flag, play the national anthem, and learn from student presentations about the history of the flag and the meaning behind its colors.
We look forward to celebrating the UAE together on this day!

Parent Teacher Conferences (PTC)

Next week Thursday, 7th and the following Tuesday, 12th November, we will be hosting our Parent Teacher Conferences (PTC) from 4 – 8PM. We’re looking forward to having you on campus to meet your child’s teachers.

Sign-ups for PTC will open tomorrow (Friday) at 8AM. Signing up is done through Tidal on PowerSchool. Please watch this video on how to sign up for a meeting with your child’s teachers. If you are having trouble logging in to PowerSchool, please don’t hesitate to contact us.

You may bring your child to join the PTC if you would like; otherwise, they will need to stay at home as there will be no childcare available.

Look out for your child’s Progress Report released tomorrow, Friday, November 1st. Being familiar with this report will greatly benefit your PTC. Secondary students will also bring home their portfolios as part of their preparation for the PTCs.

No Clubs on PTC days

Please note that there will be no Clubs on Thursday, November 7th and Tuesday, November 12th due to the PTCs those afternoons.

For any Clubs enquiries, please contact Ms. Rachel at rachel.graeff@tws-rak.org

MAP testing results

MAP scores from our first round of MAP testing are ready and will be available to be viewed on PowerSchool from tomorrow, Friday, November 1.

These reports are stored through PowerSchool for your access. Please log into your parent account, select “DocBox” and find your most recent report. You can also view the guides on how to read and understand the report, available in various languages.

Arabic Benchmark Test (ABT)

Students in grades 3 to 12 will take the ABT starting November 4th. It is an international test taken in Arabic speaking countries. It measures students’ achievement and growth in Arabic, Islamic and Social Studies subjects.

The purpose of this assessment is to help teachers understand where students are ready to start learning, how they are growing over time, and the strengths and areas of improvement.

To support students during the assessment, please ensure they arrive to school on time, are well rested, and properly nourished. This helps them remain focused during the day and increases their stamina during the test. Test results will be shared with parents once the testing is completed.

BOOK FAIR

There is one day left for Book Fair! Please send money with your child tomorrow if they would still like to buy books.
