WellSpring Weekly
May 09, 2024
Dear Parents,
It feels a bit like a novelty to have a full week of school! We are grateful for less disruptions as students focus on ending their year well. The calendar is also filling up with many events and activities that come with this season, like graduation ceremonies, concerts and art exhibits.
Next week we have the MOE at school for our annual review, so our staff and students will be busy with inspectors every day. Please extend some grace to us if we are not as responsive as usual.
Make sure to diarize all the upcoming activities and enjoy the weeks’ highlights by following the link at the end of the newsletter.
Reading Month
-
Tomorrow is Book Character Day! Students can dress up as their favorite book character, and must bring the book that goes with their character. We will have a Book Character Parade at Friday assembly.
-
Have you see how our Reading Trees are growing in the lobby? Students have been reading and adding leaves to the trees daily.
-
Teachers have been reading too. Can you guess who the teacher is by the book they are reading? Check out the posts on Instagram or look for their pictures in the lobby. Look out for the reveal next week!
Parent Council: Coffee morning
We are pleased to invite you to our next Coffee Morning on May 15, where we will have parent and nutritionist Dr. Suhad Al Shawabkeh share her expertise with us and answer questions.
Time: 8:30 - 10am
More details to follow.
Wizard of Oz
We’re so excited for the MS musical next week Friday and Saturday, May 17th and 18th! Both shows will be at 3pm. Tickets are free and will be available from Ms. May at the front desk and Ms. Samah upstairs from Monday.
Re-enrollment 2024-25
Re-enrollment season has begun! The process will take place on PowerSchool via the parent portal. You may log into your account, and there is a section for re-enrolling your child(ren) easily and electronically. Here are instructions on how to access the portal.
There are three steps to complete the re-enrollment process:
Step 1 - Settle the remaining overdue balance for 2023-24.
Step 2 - Complete PowerSchool re-enrollment process: https://powerschool.lifepluslearning.com/public/
Step 3 - Make the re-enrollment deposit of 2000 AED for 2024-25 to secure a space for your child.
The deadline for re-enrollment is June 30.
Please take a look at the 2024-25 Tuition and Fees document here. Note that there is a 5% discount if fees are paid in full.
Please contact the Finance team at finance@tws-rak.org for any account related questions.
MAP Testing
Students in KG2 to grade 10 will take their Spring MAP tests from Monday 20th to Friday 24th May. MAP is an international test in 4 subjects (English, Math, Science, and Language Usage) that helps students see how they are growing and learning. Students review their previous MAP scores and reflect on how much they have grown from their previous tests. Teachers use the new MAP data to better plan lessons for students to help them grow even more. Parents will also be able to view their children’s MAP score reports on PowerSchool once they are released. We encourage you to review these reports to see how your child compares to international benchmarks and to celebrate your student’s growth!
End of the Year concerts and art exhibits
We are excited to have our second End of the Year concerts and art exhibits on May 30 for Secondary and June 6 for Elementary. Our students are diligently working to prepare music for this celebration.
Save the dates! More information to come.
Eye Health
Tips from the Nurse:
- Keep your eyes healthy. Wear sunglasses when you are outside. Please see the nurse if you have trouble seeing the board in class or reading a book. We are here to help you!
- We are grateful to RAK Hospital for visiting WellSpring to conduct their annual eye checkups for all our students. Thanks to the mobile Eye Care Center for their care and concern for students' eye health.
Looking ahead:
