WellSpring Weekly

December 12, 2024

Dear Parents,

We have made it to winter break! This has been an action packed last few weeks and we are grateful to you for your support of your children as they have poured themselves into all their school activities while working hard in their subjects. We hope this break will be a restful one, and we wish you a safe and blessed holiday.

Enjoy this week’s highlights using the link at the end of the newsletter.

Aladdin JR. musical

Aladdin JR. is an incredible production! If you missed last night’s show (or want to see it again) we highly encourage you to attend the final show this evening.
6pm at the RAK Cultural Creative Centre. Entrance is free.
It’s a whole new world…

Co-curricular activities:

Clubs and Athletics

Term 2 for all Clubs and Athletics will begin after winter break. Here is the link for link for all Term 2 Co-curricular signups: https://forms.office.com/r/KrhHWXRddY

Details are also available in ‘Lunch’ on Canvas.

A note from our Athletics Director, Mr. Luke:

Term one has been a sensational term for our co-curriculars – brilliant achievements in Athletics and a great turn out for our Clubs. We celebrate the successes of our teams this season, which have been exceptional. Wellspring students continue to represent the school with great character which is testament to the hard work of all the staff and families at WellSpring.

Someone asked, "Why should I enroll my child in after school activities?" Well, you're not just giving them a chance to have fun in a sport or activity. These co-curriculars are important, but more importantly, they provide your child with exposure to valuable life lessons.

So, what are you investing in?

You invest in your child:

  • to learn to be disciplined, focused and dedicated,
  • to learn to take care of their body,
  • to learn to work with others and to be a good teammate, gracious in failure, and humble in success,
  • to learn to deal with disappointment when they don’t get that recognition they’d hoped for, or when their team loses in a match,
  • to learn to make and accomplish goals,
  • to respect not only themselves, but their teachers/coaches, teammates, opponents and referees,
  • to learn to work at something for a long time because mastering a skill doesn’t happen overnight.
You invest in the opportunity your child will have to make life-long friendships and create lifelong memories.
You invest in the positive influence your child has instead of sitting in front of a screen.

I could go on but, to be short, you don’t just pay for football, basketball, taekwondo or gardening club, no. You invest in opportunities that arise to make lasting influences on your child, which will aid in their development as a person, and thereby in their future successes.
