WellSpring Weekly
February 01, 2024
Dear Parents,
Welcome to Semester 2! This has certainly been a busy week. Monday was dedicated to Professional Development of our teachers and staff – we are grateful to take this time to improve our best practices and get some concrete planning done for the betterment of our school. We hope the students enjoyed their long weekend! Our girls and boys football teams traveled to Sharjah to play in the EISSA Football Tournament throughout the week, with the last team still to play on Monday. Our teams have done exceptionally well so far, especially since this is still a growing sport at WellSpring. Well done athletes and coaches! There have also been field trips this week, our second Parent Council Coffee Morning while our students settle in to the new semester.
February is going to be a full month of activity - make sure to take note of all the upcoming dates and events. Enjoy the week’s highlights using the link at the end.
EC/Elementary Field Days: POSTPONED
Please note that with the wet fields from today and chance of rain through the night, we have postponed EC|G1|G2 Field Day to next Friday, February 9th and moved G3-5 Field Day to February 16th.
Report cards
Semester 1/Quarter 2 report cards will be issued tomorrow, February 2nd. They will be available on your child’s PowerSchool page under ‘Student Reports’.
Winter MAP testing
Next week, from February 5th - 12th, students in KG2 to grade 10 will take the Winter MAP Growth assessment. Teachers are helping students prepare for the assessment in class this week by reviewing good testing procedures, reminding them of the importance of taking their time and reading each question carefully, and completing some practice problems. Parents we need your help as well to make sure students get at least 9-10 hours of sleep each night, eat a nutritious breakfast each morning, and arrive to school on time (by 7:50). These are all extremely important parts of being test ready each day next week.
A reminder that for grades 6-10, MAP test scores will affect their grade (it doesn’t affect grades for KG2 to grade 5). More information can be found on Canvas.
Astronaut visit
We are very excited to be hosting UAE Astronauts H.E. Dr. Sultan Al Neyadi and Hazza Al Mansouri next week! See the flyer for more details.
Admissions season for 2024-25
Admissions season has begun! We’d like to give our current families the priority in registering their other children and friends and/or relatives who may be interested to join WellSpring. You can find the application form here.
Football Festival
We’re excited to announce our first Football Festival taking place next week between several local RAK schools. The aim of the event is for our schools to connect, and for the children to have opportunity to play sport in a competitive but fun environment. Come and support our players on Wednesday 7th (U10 and U12), Thursday 8th (U14) and Thursday 15th (U16 & U18) from 2:40pm until about 5:30pm.
Parents are welcome to attend, and will need to park at Gate 14 to watch U10, U14 and U16/U18 games (all games on WellSpring field). Parents supporting the U12 games will need to enter RAK Academy Secondary GATE 1. More details will be emailed to parents on Canvas.
Come and support our school!
College Fair
We are very excited to be hosting a College Fair on Thursday, February 22nd in the WellSpring auditorium. The Fair is open to all high schoolers and their parents. Students will attend the Fair from 2:30pm, and parents are welcome from 3:10pm. Park at Gate 14 and make your way to the auditorium.
We will have at least 22 universities and colleges represented, including teams from New York University Abu Dhabi (NYUAD), Ajman University (AU), American University of RAK (AURAK), American University of Sharjah (AUS), Pacific Link College, Emirates Academy of Hospitality Management, and a few consultancy groups.
The different colleges and universities will explain their requirements and be available to answer any questions like course offerings, fee structures etc. This is aimed at all high schoolers, but specifically for our 11th and 12th grade families who are needing to make important decisions for their students’ next steps.
Don’t miss this great opportunity!

Physical Exercise
Tips from the Nurse:
- Exercise is a great way to make our bodies healthy. Students should play at least one hour a day. This should include running, jumping and walking briskly. Get your family involved – go outside, move and have fun!
- In the summertime, make sure you are drinking enough water!
