A day in my life at The WellSpring Private School, Ras Al Khaimah
When people talk about choosing a school, they often focus on grades and exams. As a student at WellSpring, I’ve learned that school is about much more than academics - it’s about feeling supported, motivated, and excited to come in every day.
My day starts as I arrive on campus and catch up with friends before heading to assembly. We begin with the UAE national anthem, followed by daily announcements. Assembly is never boring - the student council often leads activities or talks that raise awareness about important topics in a fun and engaging way. It sets a positive tone for the rest of the day.
After assembly, we head to our classes. Our lessons follow the American curriculum, but they’re taught in a really interactive way. In English, we discuss ideas and texts instead of just memorizing. In math, we focus on problem-solving and thinking through challenges. Science lessons are hands-on, especially in the labs, and social studies encourages us to share opinions and think critically about the world around us. What I like most is that we’re encouraged to ask questions, work together, and think independently - not just follow instructions.
School life at WellSpring isn’t only about lessons. We regularly take part in activities like culture days, themed events, and creative projects. These experiences help us express ourselves, learn about different cultures, and feel more connected as a school community. They also help build confidence, teamwork, and leadership skills.
Recess and lunch are a chance to recharge. Whether we’re talking with friends, eating together, or spending time outside, it’s an important break in the day. These moments help balance out our learning and make school feel enjoyable, not overwhelming.
One of the most meaningful parts of the day for secondary students is advisory. We meet in small groups with a teacher to talk about well-being, mental health, and life skills. It feels like a safe space where we can share, reflect, and support one another outside of our regular classes.
PE and the arts are a nice break during the school day. PE helps me get moving and clear my head after sitting in class, while still teaching teamwork and discipline. Art classes let me slow down and be creative, which balances out more academic subjects. Together, they make the school day feel more enjoyable and complete.
We end the school day with one of the wide range of electives offered at Wellspring. From business, marine science, game development, music ensemble, photography, painting, ISS Space, Spanish, French, yearbook, Model United Nations (MUN), Pre-AP Theatre, and many more. Students can pick two electives that best suit their interests. These more specialized classes give me a way to explore my interests in a meaningful and fun environment.
Many of us take part in after-school clubs or athletics, while others explore creative or academic interests. These activities help us discover what we enjoy and develop skills that go beyond the classroom. Whether we’re working together in a club or competing in sports against other schools, after-school activities give us opportunities to grow, challenge ourselves, and connect with others.
At WellSpring, every day feels balanced. We’re challenged academically, supported emotionally, and encouraged to grow as individuals. It’s a place where learning feels meaningful - not just for school, but for life.
