WellSpring Weekly
May 16, 2024
Dear Parents,
It’s been another great week of opportunities for learning and growth. The MOE inspection this week went well overall, and we were excited to show them all the great things going on in our classrooms and school.
The Middle School musical is this Friday and Saturday. Get your tickets and come and support our middle school students! Next week we have our next Parent Council hosted Coffee Morning, and an EC open day for prospective families. Read below for more upcoming dates and events to add to your calendar. We are truly heading towards the last stages of the school year as EC and Lower Elementary start their famous Z-A countdown this Friday, counting down the days of school.
Enjoy the weeks’ highlights by following the link at the end of the newsletter.
Wizard of Oz
We’re so excited for the MS musical this week Friday and Saturday, May 17th and 18th! Both shows will start at 3pm. Tickets are free and are available from Ms. May at the front desk and Ms. Samah in secondary. Get your tickets and come support middle school!
Re-enrollment 2024-25
Re-enrollment season has begun! Reenroll soon to ensure your child’s seat for next year. The process will take place on PowerSchool via the parent portal. You may log into your account, and there is a section for re-enrolling your child(ren) easily and electronically. Here are instructions on how to access the portal.
There are three steps to complete the re-enrollment process:
Step 1 - Settle the remaining overdue balance for 2023-24.
Step 2 - Complete PowerSchool re-enrollment process: https://powerschool.lifepluslearning.com/public/
Step 3 - Make the re-enrollment deposit of 2000 AED for 2024-25 to secure a space for your child.
The deadline for re-enrollment is June 30, 2024.
Please take a look at the 2024-25 Tuition and Fees document here. Note that there is a 5% discount if fees are paid in full.
Please contact the Finance team at finance@tws-rak.org for any account related questions.
Early Childhood Open Day - May 24
If you have friends who are looking for a warm, nurturing environment for their young children in a school that emphasizes both character and a robust educational program, please warmly invite them to our Early Childhood open day next Friday, May 24th.
Admissions
As we are nearing the end of the school year our admissions have been getting busier and busier. If you have any siblings that you want to enroll in WellSpring you are encouraged to do so as soon as possible. We do not want you to miss out on enrollment due to lack of space.
Parent Council: Coffee morning
We are pleased to invite you to our next Coffee Morning on May 22 (please note the date change), where we will have parent and nutritionist Dr. Suhad Al Shawabkeh share her expertise with us and answer questions.
Time: 8:30 - 10am
MAP Testing
Students in KG2 to grade 10 will take their Spring MAP tests from Monday 20th to Friday 24th May. MAP is an international test in 4 subjects (English, Math, Science, and Language Usage) that helps students see how they are growing and learning. Students review their previous MAP scores and reflect on how much they have grown from their previous tests. Teachers use the new MAP data to better plan lessons for students to help them grow even more. Parents will also be able to view their children’s MAP score reports on PowerSchool once they are released. We encourage you to review these reports to see how your child compares to international benchmarks and to celebrate your student’s growth!
Fine Arts Festivals
You are warmly invited to our Fine Arts Festivals on May 30 for Secondary, 3:30 – 4:30pm and June 6 for Elementary. 1:30 – 2:30pm. We are excited for our students to showcase their artistic talents in both the concerts and art exhibits. Please take note of the dates and time for each festival.
Purpose
Seeking the reason why it is made or done.
There’s more to learning than gaining knowledge. To bring transformation from the inside out, we stay true to our values and invite our students, families and community to do the same. This month as we focus on Purpose:
We will see ourselves and others as created with value and importance, and use our talents for more than just ourselves.
We draw inspiration from Drs. Pat and Marian Kennedy, the American doctors who moved to Al Ain and established Oasis (now known as Kanad) Hospital in 1960 - the oldest hospital in Al Ain and the second oldest in the United Arab Emirates. Starting from a simple palm frond hut, they eventually established a sophisticated hospital that now serves over half a million people. In 2005, Dr. Marian received one of the inaugural Abu Dhabi Awards, presented by Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, H.H. General Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, who was born at Kanad Hospital.
Reading Month
We hope you noticed our ‘growing’ Reading Tree in the lobby during Reading Month. The Reading Tree showcases the amount of pages we have read in each phase. There are 46 yellow leaves for EC (one leaf represents 50 pages), 214 orange leaves for Elementary (one leaf represents 150 pages), and 55 leaves for Secondary (one leaf represents 300 pages). We have done A LOT of reading during Reading Month!
Looking ahead:
