WellSpring Weekly

February 29, 2024

Dear Parents,

The end of last week we hosted our first ever College Fair, such a great opportunity for our high schoolers to gather information for their future studies and careers. Friday we celebrated Haq Al Laila as we near the month of Ramadan. Thanks to our Emirati moms who provided all the treats and made sure the children’s bags were filled with candy!

This week is Space Week! We have the “Cosmic Dome” set up in the gym where our students get to go to the planetarium on campus. Read more about Space Week below.

This is another packed week, full of news and activity. Keep up to date and informed of all that is happening at WellSpring, and enjoy the week’s highlights using the link at the end of the newsletter.

School license announcement

Please look on Canvas for an important announcement about our license from the Head of School, Mr. Jeff Kingma.

Space Week

As we celebrate and emphasize Space this week, the Cosmic Dome Planetarium is a great opportunity for our students to experience a planetarium right on campus. Our students are taking turns by class to visit the Cosmic Dome set up in the gym.

Students have also been listening at assembly and reading Space facts to be ready for a Kahoot Space trivia competition. And tomorrow, Friday, all students can come to school in Space-themed dress up. It’s going to be out of this world!

Join us this afternoon from 4 – 6pm!

Culture Day

Culture Day is next Thursday, March 7th! It is one of the highlights of the year as we celebrate the many cultures represented at our school. We hope you make plans to join us. We would love for our whole school community to be involved.

  • Send your child to school dressed in something that represents their country/ethnicity.
  • Be planning to bring food from your country to share. Please join the WhatsApp Group for your region that was sent on WhatsApp. By joining the group, food and decorations can be coordinated for each region. All food will need to arrive by 8:00 AM so booths can be set up and ready to open before 8:45 AM for Secondary students.
  • Make plans to attend!
o There will be a school-wide parade of flags at 9:50 AM on the grassy field.
o EC/Elementary Performances (PK-Grade 5) will begin at 10:00 AM. After the EC/Elementary Performance, parents are invited to tour the booths with their children.
o Secondary Performances (Grade 6-12) will begin at 11:30 AM
  • School timings:
o Drop off – will begin at 7:30 AM
o Dismissal – will begin at 12:45 PM, buses will depart at 1:00 PM

Below are the countries represented at our school by region. If you see that your country is not listed, please let us know.

End date for Clubs and Athletics

Please note that Term 2 co-curricular activities (all Clubs and Athletics) will end next Wednesday, March 6th.

Next week co-curricular activities will still take place on Monday to Wednesday, but not on Thursday due to Culture Day.

Parent Survey

As part of our ongoing continuous improvement, we invite you to take part in our annual parent survey. The survey will ask you questions about the school’s learning environment, educational programs, your child’s teachers, school safety, school-home communication, and parental involvement opportunities. We need your perspective as we evaluate these aspects of our school, and we appreciate your comments.

EC/Elementary Reading Competition

We’ve challenged the EC and Elementary students to increase their reading frequency this semester leading up to Reading Month (April 15-May 10). Next month, we challenge students to read 500+ pages (Grades 1-2) or 1000+ pages (Grades 3-5) by April 15th. They can read on myON, school library books, or home library books. If they are reading physical books, they should record the title and page count of the books and share it with their teacher.

Important notice from the Registrar

Please make sure to send your child’s Emirates ID to school to hand to their teacher, or Ms. Samah for Secondary students. These are needed to update our students’ profiles on the MOE system, and will be returned promptly.
