WellSpring Weekly

April 18, 2024

Dear Parents,

Welcome back after what we hope was a blessed Eid and a relaxing Spring Break! And thank you for your flexibility during the storm and its after-effects this week. The safety of our students, families and staff is paramount, and we are grateful for the option to have school online during this time.

We are now entering the last stretch of the academic year. We’re looking forward to meeting with parents next week for PTCs, having our students involved in this term’s clubs and athletics, and growing our Reading Tree (see below)!

Enjoy the week’s highlights using the link at the end of the newsletter.

Parent Teacher Conferences

Next week Thursday and Friday, 25th and 26th April, we will be hosting our Parent Teacher Conferences (PTCs) at school. We’re looking forward to having you on campus to meet your child’s teachers.

The timings for Thursday is 10am – 6pm and Friday is 8am - 12:35pm. A reminder that there is no school on these days.

Sign-ups for PTCs will open today. Signing up is done through PowerSchool. Please watch this video on how to sign up for a meeting with your child’s teachers. If you are having trouble logging in to PowerSchool, please don’t hesitate to contact us.

You may bring your child to join the PTCs if you would like; otherwise, they will need to stay at home as there will be no childcare available.

Progress Reports

With the inclement weather and events of this week, the finalization of progress reports has been delayed. They will be finalized and shared early next week before Parent Teacher Conferences. Thanks for your understanding.

Co-curriculars:

Clubs & Athletics

Sign-ups for term 3 Clubs and Athletics are available on Canvas. The final date for payment and signing up is tomorrow, Friday, April 19.
Please reach out to Mr. Luke or Ms. Rachel if you have any questions.

Reading Month

This week began our Reading Month from April 15 to May 10 with the theme "Reading Helps Us Grow."

As part of our Reading Month activities, we have a Reading Tree displayed on the ground floor. Each division - Early Childhood, Elementary, and Secondary - will add leaves to the tree to represent the number of pages they have read:

Here are the reading goals for each division:

  • EC: Add a yellow leaf for every 50 pages read
  • Elem: Add an orange leaf for every 150 pages read
  • Sec: Add a red leaf for every 300 pages read

For books read at school, teachers will be using a class reading log. Teachers will also send home a weekly reading log for students to track their at-home reading.

We also have a display featuring photos of teachers holding up their favorite books. Students will try to guess which teacher is behind each book, with the reveal on the last day of Reading Month!

Thank you for your support in promoting a love for reading among our students.

Book Fair

The book fair will continue on Monday only and students should bring money then if they wish to buy books. Parents can come at the end of the day to purchase books if they wish.

This Saturday we will have a booth in Manar Mall to spread the word about WellSpring! We would love it if you could stop by during the day to come say hi to our team or spread the word to your friends who are interested in sending their children to WellSpring. We will be in the big atrium next to the big Starbucks.

LifePlus Quality of the Month:

Humility

Humility is not thinking too much or too little of myself or others.

There’s more to learning than gaining knowledge. To bring transformation from the inside out, we stay true to our values and invite our students, families and community to do the same.

This month as we focus on Humility:
We will not put ourselves down nor brag about our abilities; we will learn to ask for and accept help; we will be good winners and good losers.

Health Topic for April:
Caring for yourself and others

Tips from the Nurse:

  • Being kind to yourself and others is important to our physical health. Support from loved ones around you, such as family members or friends, can help in times of need. Being kind and supporting others is also important. If you need support in any way, physical or emotional, we have trained staff at school who can help.
  • As temperatures are getting warmer and Summer is approaching it is important for us to look after the health of our skin. Wearing sunscreen protects our skin from harmful UV rays that can damage our skin. Be mindful to wear sunscreen when you are outside.

Enjoy your weekend!
