WellSpring Weekly

March 28, 2024

Dear Parents,

We have come to the end of week 13 of the year! Thank you to students, parents and teachers for the continued work during the more condensed school days during Ramadan. As we break for Spring Break, we also come to the end of Green Month. This has been a great initiative to showcase, learn and challenge ourselves and our community to do our part in being good stewards of the world around us. We hope you enjoyed the Sustainability Expo this afternoon displaying the great work of our students.

We’re looking forward to Reading Month kicking off as we return after the break, along with the return of co-curriculars – check out the Club and Athletics offerings for next term.

We wish all our Muslim families well over the rest of Ramadan, and a blessed upcoming Eid!

Enjoy the week’s highlights using the link at the end of the newsletter.

MOE inspection survey

As part of preparing for our MOE inspection in term 3, the MOE requests that all parents complete a quick survey. Please do so at your earliest convenience as the survey closes on Thursday, April 18th.

Spring Break dates
Tomorrow is the last day of school before we close for Spring Break. School will resume on Monday, April 15th and we will switch back to regular school timings:
7:50 am– 3 pm (3:10 for Secondary) on Mondays – Thursdays;
7:50 am – 11:30 am (11:40 for Secondary) on Fridays.

Green Month:

Lights Out Day

On Friday, we end Green Month with Lights Out Day – wear black! A day where we practice conserving electricity and using as few electrical devices as possible. Most non-renewable sources of energy produce pollution and release greenhouse gases like carbon into the atmosphere. By using less energy, we can create a significant impact in reducing our carbon footprint.

Laptops, iPads and projectors will be on minimal use with 'Battery Saver Modes" on and usage of AC and lights will be limited. We are #DoingOurShare in protecting our environment.

Reading Month
Here is some exciting news about our upcoming Reading Month from April 15 to May 10 with the theme "Reading Helps Us Grow." Reading Month begins the week we return from Spring Break.

As part of our Reading Month activities, we will have a Reading Tree displayed on the ground floor. Each division - Early Childhood, Elementary, and Secondary - will add leaves to the tree to represent the number of pages they have read:
• EC: Add a yellow leaf for every 50 pages read
• Elem: Add an orange leaf for every 150 pages read
• Sec: Add a red leaf for every 300 pages read

We have a few school-wide events planned:

  • April 15 – 19: Book Fair. Students will visit the fair to shop during the school day, so parents can send money. There will be time for parents to come and shop Monday - Thursday 2:30-3:30.
  • April 30: Guest Reader, Toyin Akanni, author of the children's series "Barki the Brave" will read to students in EC and lower elementary. You can also see her at the Sharjah Children's Reading Festival in May. If you would like to purchase signed copies of her book, let your child's teacher know.
  • May 3: Book Character Dress Up Day. Students can come dressed as their favorite book character. They must bring the book their character is from on this day.

Looking ahead:
