WellSpring Weekly

January 18, 2024

Dear Parents,

Three weeks into the new year, and it certainly feels like we’ve hit the ground running. As we head towards the end of the first semester, our Secondary students have had their Arabic and Islamic exam week, whilst reviewing for their finals next week.

Our Clubs and Athletics programs are also well under way, with the U18 boys football playing their first “friendly” match of the season yesterday.

We’re excited for the growth and learning taking place all over the school. Read ahead to keep informed of all that is happening at WellSpring.

Secondary exam week

Secondary students will write exams from Monday, 22nd to Thursday, 25th. They should come in school uniform during the entire exam week.

Arrival time is as normal: 7:50am. All exams will end at 10:30am, except for students who have two exams on one day.

All students should be collected by parents by 10:45am. Parents can collect students from gate 12 (unfortunately no buses will be provided).

Please refer to Canvas Lunch courses for more details for exam week.

Note from the counselors:

Manage exam stress

As our Secondary students prepare for end of semester exams, here is some helpful advice from our counselors about how to manage exam stress: follow the 5 Ps.

We wish all our students the best over the exam period!

Dismissal at Gate 12

For those students who dismiss from Gate 12: To increase to efficiency of dismissal at Gate 12 and minimise distraction to the office, we have moved the students out of the reception area and into one of the classrooms on the ground floor. Dismissal will still continue as normal at Gate 12.

A reminder that students may not be picked up from their classrooms and parents must stay in their car with their number clearly displayed for the dismissal team to see. If everything runs smoothly, dismissal procedure from Gate 12 takes 10 minutes. Please work with us to make the process as smooth as possible and minimize the traffic and wait times at Gate 12.

Extra curriculars

If you have not done so already, this is a gentle reminder to parents to please pay for your child’s Club and/or Athletics programs. Payments can be made to Ms. Reem in Finance.

Field Days

Middle School and High School will have their field days after exams next week. Middle School will stay after their exam on Thursday and High School will have their field day on Friday morning.
Check Canvas for more information including times and team colors.

Professional Development Day

Our second Professional Development Day is coming up on Monday, January 29 and there will be no school on that day.

For students, this means a long weekend marking the end of the first semester. For our teachers and support staff, this is a day set aside specifically for them to learn new skills, collaborate with colleagues and further develop their expertise.

XPRIZE News

Now that the Greenhouse is built, the XPRIZE team have been working on the planters for their hydroponics project. The hope is to have it up and running by the end of January. The team will plant the first seedlings tomorrow after school. If you’re on campus, come have a look at the awesome progress being made and you can even help out with the seedlings!

The XPRIZE team will soon be able to actively measure carbon capture, and, once grown, will be raffling off the vegetables grown in the Greenhouse.

Some dates to diarize:
