Highlights of the Week, June 6

EISSA tournament 🏀
Our basketball girls played in the EISSA tournament in Sharjah recently. They were up against the nine other schools in the EISSA sports association and represented WellSpring well! They had a mix of wins, some losses, and a few ties. Thank you coaches and chaperones!
o U12 – A mix of ties and losses through a tough schedule. The girls played well and showed improvement.
o U14 – The girls also played well and finished in 5th place.
o U16 – Our older girls narrowly missed going to the final and finished very respectably in 3rd place.

They've also enjoyed some games throughout the season against RAK Academy. Well done WellSpring wolves!

Young authors ✍️
Ms. Jane's grade 3 storytellers worked hard on their storytelling projects this year. This week the young authors got to share the final product with their parents: their own published books!
The young authors read their stories out loud, and then shared the writing process with their parents - from brainstorming to the first draft, revision, editing and finally publishing their own work.
Well done authors!

Transition meetings
This week we had our Grade 5 to 6 and Grade 8 to 9 transition meetings. These are times to discuss changes and expectations for the upcoming shift to middle school and high school. Teachers and principals shared expected changes in academics, discipline and behavior, and social and emotional changes. We want our students and parents to be well informed and well equipped for their next season. 💪

Firdaus Orchestra 

We were honored to host the Firdaus Orchestra at WellSpring this week! Conducted by Monica Woodman, it is the first all-women's orchestra based out of Dubai. First seen at the opening ceremony of Expo 2020 Dubai, the orchestra includes over 50 professional musicians from across the world, coming together to set a foundation for orchestral culture in the Middle East.
