WellSpring Weekly

April 24, 2024

Dear Parents,

We are grateful to have had a ‘normal’ start to the week after the severe weather last week, and that our students are able to continue school safely on campus. As we prepare for 2 days of Parent-Teacher conferences, we are looking forward to having you on campus to share the progress of your students with their teachers.

This is going to be a busy but exciting last few months. Re-enrollment for next year has also begun – read below for all the details.

Enjoy the week’s highlights using the link at the end of the newsletter.

Parent Teacher Conferences

This week Thursday and Friday, 25th and 26th April, we will be hosting our Parent Teacher Conferences (PTCs) at school. We’re looking forward to having you on campus to meet your child’s teachers.

The timings for Thursday is 10am – 6pm and Friday is 8am - 12:35pm. A reminder that there is no school on these days.

Sign-ups for PTCs are still open. Signing up is done through PowerSchool. Please watch this video on how to sign up for a meeting with your child’s teachers. If you are having trouble logging in to PowerSchool, please don’t hesitate to contact us.

You may bring your child to join the PTCs if you would like; otherwise, they will need to stay at home as there will be no childcare available.

Progress Reports

Progress Reports have been issued and you can find them on PowerSchool. It would be beneficial to be familiar with your child’s progress report before meeting teachers at PTC.

Lost and found

Has your child misplaced their WellSpring jacket, water bottle, or something else? Chances are we have it! While you are on campus, please have a look at the Lost & Found table in the lobby to find your child’s lost property.

End of the Year concerts and art exhibits

We are excited to have our second End of the Year concerts and art exhibits on May 30 for Secondary and June 6 for Elementary. Our students are diligently working to prepare music for this celebration.

There is also an opportunity for those who are taking private lessons or who are working on their own music to audition for a few solo spotlights during the concert. If your child would like to audition, they can submit their video to Ms. Jiwon or Ms. Kristi through email or canvas (Jiwon.an@tws-rak.org or Kristi.digman@tws-rak.org) for consideration before May 3. Student videos that demonstrate excellence, creativity, and hard work will be given highest priority as there are limited spots for solos.

Personal Finance Sales Day

The Middle School Personal Finance elective class will host a Sales day on Thursday, May 9th. Students will sell food and drinks to all students (Elementary and Secondary) as part of a project creating products to sell, building a budget, marketing, and looking at profits and losses.

Students will sell from 09:00-11:00am and items for sale will cost between 1aed and 15aed.

Please send money with your child so that they can support this student initiative.

(This initiative has been approved by the MOE to develop real-life application skills in our students.)

Re-enrollment

Re-enrollment season has begun! Please take a look at the 2024-25 Tuition and Fees document here. Note that there is a 5% discount if fees are paid in full. For your convenience, the Finance team will be available during the PTC days (Thursday and Friday).

Reading Month

Be sure to check out the Reading Tree in the lobby when you are on campus! Each leaf represents a certain number of pages students have read in each class. The yellow leaves are for EC, orange leaves are for Elementary, and red for Secondary. Next week we will have reading buddies on Friday (May 3). Each student will share a book with a student in a different grade.

We will have a guest reader from an author from our community named Toyin Akanni. She wrote the Barki series which are stories that promote kindness, bravery and environmental consideration. If parents would like to purchase copies of her books, they can contact their child's teacher to place an order and they will be delivered on April 30th. There are two books in the series: Barki and Brave and Barki and the Forest Fire. Each book is 40aed, but if parents want to buy both they are 70aed total.

Have a look at the highlights of the week here.

See you at the Parent-Teacher conferences!
